Membership Information
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Ventura County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VC-VOAD). Through our joined forces, we will promote preparedness and safety and will strive to meet our four principles:
COOPERATION – Foster cooperation among members at all levels and in all phases of a disaster.
COORDINATION – Coordinate the development of our policies and procedures and the implementation of services among our members.
VC-VOAD will serve as an advocate and liaison between members, the Emergency Operations Center, and local government first responders.
COMMUNICATION – Exchange and disseminate information among members, the public, local, state, and federal agencies, in conjunction with the individual VC-VOAD members.
COLLABORATION – We dedicate ourselves to working together to achieve specific goals and undertake specific projects at disaster sites. We form partnerships during disaster response.
Memberships Levels
Member Partner ($40 annual dues): Non-profit IRS 501(c)(3) organizations, including civic or faith-based organizations that are willing and able to respond to meet the needs of people in Ventura County affected by disaster without discrimination. Voting member. May serve on committees and hold elected office.
Affiliate ($40 annual dues): Government agencies or private sector organizations with disaster planning and operational responsibilities or capabilities. Not eligible to vote but may serve on committees.
Affiliate Individual ($20 annual dues): An individual with disaster planning and operational responsibilities or capabilities. Not eligible to vote but may serve on committees.

Todos los miembros nuevos deben completar un formulario de miembro de VC-VOAD para que podamos estar seguros de tener información precisa sobre los contactos de la organización y las capacidades de recursos.

Benefits of Membership
Access to training and learning: Members and Partners gather around topical issues and programmatic activities to improve the delivery of services throughout the disaster cycle and to further create a climate for cooperation. The work of the committees and task forces is supported by National VOAD staff and technology tools.
Representation with Federal Advocacy and Liaisons:
National VOAD staff in Washington DC work with FEMA, the DHS, Congress, and other federal agencies on issues of concern throughout the disaster cycle.
Network & Build Relationships:
While incorporating National VOAD Four C's, Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration. You have the opportunity to meet and solidify long-lasting connections in the community.
Boost Disaster Preparedness: Being prepared and informed helps you and everyone around you. Joining will help you or your organization mobilized when a disaster strikes. Preparedness mitigates risks, we can't stop disasters but we can be ready for when they strike.
Share Volunteers & Resources: The intention is there to help the community, but your organization might not be able to reach untapped populations. In joining forces with like-minded organizations, you are expanding your reach and promoting your organization in one.
Support Our Community: Margaret J. Wheatley explained it best when she wrote: "There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.". We can all work together to ensure our community not only survives but thrives.
