Membership Information
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Ventura County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VC-VOAD). Membership levels and important information about how our network works can be found in the VC VOAD Guidelines.
Memberships Levels
Partner Member: Partner Memberships are open to non-profit,IRS-501c (3), and organizations that have clearly defined functions, programs, and/or direct services with a focus on one or more phases of the disaster continuum that are local in scope. Partner Members include non-profits, schools, colleges, universities, faith-based organizations, etc.
Associate Member: Associate Memberships are open to organizations that have functions, programs, or resources with a focus on one or more phases of the disaster continuum that are local in scope. Associate members include government agencies, the private sector, and/or groups affiliated with these agencies (i.e., CERT and DART) offices.
Community Allies: Aligned with the whole community approach to disaster readiness and response it is important for organizations of all kinds to be involved. Community allyship is open to any interested organization, non-profit, agency, group, public agency, or business operating within Ventura County to take part in discussions, training and information on disaster preparedness, mitigation, recovery and response. The intent is to have a broad-based coalition involving those who are not traditionally involved in disaster response and those who are.

Benefits of Membership
Access to training and learning: Members and Partners gather around topical issues and programmatic activities to improve the delivery of services throughout the disaster cycle and to further create a climate for cooperation.
Network & Build Relationships:
While incorporating the National VOAD Four C's, Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration. You have the opportunity to meet and solidify long-lasting connections in the community.
Boost Disaster Preparedness: Being prepared and informed helps you and everyone around you. Joining will help you or your organization mobilized when a disaster strikes. Preparedness mitigates risks, we can't stop disasters but we can be ready for when they strike.
Share Volunteers & Resources: The intention is there to help the community, but your organization might not be able to reach untapped populations. In joining forces with like-minded organizations, you are expanding your reach and promoting your organization in one.
Support Our Community: Margaret J. Wheatley explained it best when she wrote: "There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.". We can all work together to ensure our community not only survives but thrives.
